The fourth installation of Oil Down hosted by Children Of The Coup on 8th of July was an intimate event encouraging express of ones inner self. Oil Down had a mixture of art, fashion as well as live music by a wide variety of performers. Calypso, Soca, Rap and spoken word were all performed at the event. All the artist portrayed a level of talent that shows that with continued dedication and experience, they will indeed grace larger stages and crowds.
Participants were allowed to paint pieces of their choosing on a large white canvas. This allowed them to express themselves as they would not normally do due to fear of being judged and ridiculed, because they “can not paint”.
There was also a very well organized Thrift Shop which consisted of a variety of handcrafted jewelry and paintings. The jewelry and paintings emphasized African culture with Caribbean elements.
